Question

An order was placed for supply of carpet of breadth 3 meters, and the length of the carpet was 1.44 times of breadth. Subsequently the breadth and length were increased by 25 and 40 percent respectively. At the rate of Rs 45 per sq.m. what would be the increase in the cost of the carpet?

  • Rs 1020.60
  • Rs 398.80
  • Rs 437.40
  • Rs 583.20
  • None of these
Answer- C

% of increase in area = 75% increase

Therefore increase in cost = (3×3×1.44)(75%)(Rs 45)

=> 3×3×144(3/4) ×45 = Rs 437.40
