The ratio of present ages of Amit (A) and his Father (F) is = 2:5
=> (A/F) = (2/5)
=> 2F = 5A ------ (1)
After four years, (A+4)/(F+4) = (5/11)
=> 11A + 44 = 5F + 20 ---- (2)
substitute (1) in (2),
by solving equation we get Father age is 40 and Amit age is 16
Finally age of the father 5 years ago is 35 years.
