Question

Two Indian Railway trains of equal length 100 meters are moving in opposite directions on parallel tracks. The trains cross each other in 20 seconds. If one train is moving twice as fast as the other train, find the speed of the faster train?

  • 12
  • 24
  • 36
  • 48
Answer- A

Let the speed of the slower train = X m/sec

Then, the speed of the faster train will be = 2X m/sec

Relative Speed = X + 2X = 3X m/sec

Relative Speed is also = (100+100)/20 =200/20 = 10

3X=10

X=(10/3)*(18/5) = 12 Km/hr
